History of R.M. Hoffman Company
R.M. Hoffman has been established for over 45 years and has grown and matured since its inception in 1959. We continue to provide outstanding customer service to our customers. Over the years, we have expanded to include custom design and manufacturing of products based on our existing products. We continue to offer the services and quick response that our customers need and want.

Historical Timeline
- 2004 - Mr. Ron Yi joins R.M. Hoffman as the Operations Manager and also leads the company into ISO 9001:2000 certification. A Class 1000 clean room is installed and certified along with QA facilities.
- 2003 - R.M. Hoffman makes a business decision to reduce emphasis in web handling/converting and begins focusing on doing small runs for semiconductor equipment OEM’s, medical equipment OEM’s and packaging OEM’s.
- 2002 - In-house design and manufacturing of components and subassemblies begins.
- 2001 - Ray Krieger joins the company to become sales and marketing manager; Wellington Chan, Larry Poore (motion sector) and Thomas “Tony” Eytalis retire after more than 10 years with the company.
- 2000 - Assembly and JIT (“Just-In-Time”) delivery is added for selected customers.
- 1999 - In Memory of Walter D. Esselstein, May 1, 1999. As a mechanical engineer and member of TAPPI, Walter pioneered paper converting machine design and techniques with paper and foil converting and associated control equipment on a worldwide basis throughout his life. He served as an officer with the Coast Guard in San Francisco Bay during World War II. Walter was an avid sailor, sportsman, historian and conservationist who loved his fellowman and his country. His sense of humor and enthusiasm for life will never be forgotten.
- 1990
- Richard M. Hoffman retires and starts a real estate sales and education program for mobile homes.
- Thomas J. Hoffman becomes President of R.M. Hoffman.
- 1987 - Wellington K. Chan joins and continues Mr. Esselstein’s work.
- 1978 - Thomas J. Hoffman, CPMR, joins as a sales engineer.
- 1968 - Walter D. Esselstein joins and leads the company into web handling and paper converting machine design and components.
- 1959 - Richard Hoffman starts R.M. Hoffman Company as a manufacturer’s representative specializing in clutches and brakes.
