Tolomatic Pneumatic Cable Cylinders

Tolomatic Pneumatic Cable Cylinders

In 1955, Tolomatic introduced the first cable cylinder to the market and it is still offers several popular and efficient, cost and space saving designs. Tolomatic offers double acting, double purchase, single acting and track cable cylinder models with a wide variety of bore sizes and options.

Tolomatic Pneumatic Cable Cylinders

  • Available in four styles:
    • Double Acting: Max force output up to 1919 lb
    • Double Purchase: Max force output up to 1532 lb, double velocity capability
    • Single Acting: Max force output up to 1919 lb, cost savings over double acting
    • Track: Max force output up to 174 lb, strokes up to 6 ft, guide and support system for larger load capacity
  • Allows equal force to be applied in both directions
  • Cables can be specified in different lengths for application flexibility
  • Cylinders can be isolated from any work area with extended cable lengths
  • Strokes up to 60 ft (120 ft for double purchase models)
  • Options:
    • Automatic tensioners
    • Caliper disc brakes for holding in horizontal applications and to aid in end-of-stroke deceleration, must be used with an automatic tensioner
    • Viton® brand seals from DuPont for increased temperature range and longer life

Rodless Actuator Benefits

Space Savings:

A typical rod style actuator with a 2-inch body size and an 8-inch stroke has an approximate overall length when the rod is extended of 21.75 inches.

The equivalent 2-inch body size, 8-inch stroke rodless actuator has an overall length of 14.3 inches. Since the stroke is contained within the actuator itself, there is a 34% smaller footprint than a rod style. As the stroke length increases, so does the space savings of a rodless actuator.Tolomatic Rodless Actuator Benefits

Supported Loads:

A rodless actuator guides and supports the load throughout the entire stroke length. Utilizing a variety of different bearing and load carrying design techniques, bending moments are better controlled resulting in long wear without seal or bearing stress.
