Zero-Max Overload Clutches & Torque Limiters

Zero-Max Overload Clutches

Torq-Tenders

Torq-Tenders are Overload Safety Devices which provide reliable overload protection. When a jam-up or excessive loading occurs the Torq-Tender will reliably and quickly release to prevent system damage.

Features and Benefits:

  • Available in torque settings from 3 lb-in to 3,000 lb-in and bore sizes from 0.250” to 1.750”
  • Tamper-proof, enclosed design
    • Maintains factory torque value, costly and potentially risky calibration procedures are not necessary
    • Able to operate in a wide variety of industrial environments
  • Torque value can be changed in the field by disassembling the unit and replacing the springs.
  • Bi-directional and uni-directional designs available:
    • Release at the same torque in each direction (standard configuration)
    • Release at a different torque in each direction
    • Positive drive in either direction
  • Made from durable heat treated steel for long operation life
  • Multiple mounting configurations available:
    • Shaft-to-Shaft (Inline): Torq-Tender has the functionality of a flexible shaft coupling (will handle shaft misalignment of up to 0.015” (depending on model) parallel and up to 1.5 degrees angular)
    • Through-Shaft: A shaft passes through the full length of the Torq-Tender, a sprocket or sheave mounts externally (bronze bushing supports the side load from the mounted component)
    • End of Shaft: Designed for shafts that are not long enough to extend through the full length of the unit (available with face mounting or hub mounting for sprockets, pulleys, etc.)

H-TLC Torque Limiters

Zero-Max H-TLC Torque Limiters

  • Durable design resistant to water, salt, mild acid, and other pollutants in temperatures from -40°F to +180°F
  • Unlike friction-type designs, the H-TLC does not generate heat or react to lubricants, maintaining precise disengagement even when submerged in oil or after multiple disengages
  • Torque setting is adjustable via external compression bolts
  • Available with a simple and inexpensive actuating disk which can trigger an automatic warning or power shutdown the instant an overload condition is reached
  • Available with multiple (4 or 6 depending on model) re-engagement points or as a single position re-engagement unit for systems which must remain “in phase”
